Stages of the Application Process

The procedure must begin before the entry visa expires. You cannot submit documents while staying on the island illegally. The process for a foreign national in the Republic consists of three phases:

  1. Gathering documents in Kazakhstan, obtaining apostilles, and arriving in Cyprus on a national visa.
  2. Renting a property (the lease agreement must be in writing and, if necessary, stamped or registered in accordance with the requirements for the selected procedure), opening a bank account, obtaining a bank guarantee, and undergoing medical examinations.
  3. Scheduling an appointment to submit documents via the Migration Department’s online portal and making an in-person visit to the department in Nicosia or the district immigration police office in the applicant’s place of residence.

On the day of submission, the applicant is required to pay government fees. The fee for registration in the Aliens’ Registry is 70 euros (a one-time payment), and the fee for issuing or renewing the residence permit itself is also 70 euros per person.

Processing Times

After receiving the documents and verifying that they are complete, immigration officers begin reviewing the case. Standard processing times depend on the category of residence permit. The processing times for immigration cases are as follows:

  • Applications under the Digital Nomad program are processed the fastest—5 to 7 weeks.
  • Approval of business plans for startup visas by the relevant ministry takes up to 5 weeks.
  • There is no fixed statutory processing time for a temporary visitor’s residence permit (Pink Slip); the actual waiting period ranges from 4 to 6 months due to the high volume of applications in Limassol and Nicosia.

Obtaining a Resident Card
